=Sever=

Poet, do not around a single word
your poem build and sever!
Forcefully or gracefully, but never
wield your pen like a sword.

Thrust deep into the hearts of men,
deeper still into their souls.
Sever their doubting minds and send
slow asphyxiating throes.

Wretched now your poem seems,
how that word must jar and bring
reminder of theirs and stolen dreams
of an edgeless severing.
